A new CyanogenMod 11 release is now available for download for the owners of Android-based devices interested in installing some unofficial software.

The new iteration, pushed out as CyanogenMod 11.0 M4, is already available for download through the official CyanogenMod website, with a nice range of enhancements packed inside.

One of the main improvements included in the update is related to the Immersive Mode, which was designed so as to prevent accidental clicks on swipe gesture (EdgeGesture service).

At the same time, the new CyanogenMod release comes with fixes for Bluetooth LE, and with Wipower SDK APIs, a changelog posted on the official CM blog reads.

Other changes in the update are related to the System NavBar, which sports a Left Hand mode. However, this feature is available only in landscape, and cannot be used on tablets as well, the team explains.

Depending on the device in their hands, users might also enjoy Motion Accelerometer support following the installation of CM11 M4. Moreover, new APIs for suspend/resume were added to the MediaPlayer.

Changes to the Volume Panel were also included in the new release, which now offers transparency support. Translations were modified as well, with new language additions, localization and long-string fixes, the aforementioned release notes unveil.

According to the aforementioned blog post, there is also a CyanogenMod easter egg included in the new release, along with a series of tweaks and fixes aimed at providing users with a better experience than before.

Some of these fixes can be found in the QuickSettings, where issues with the volume Tile sync have been resolved, along with others affecting Quick Config, Alarm tile showing alarms, and User Profile.

The Recent Apps Panel has been tweaked for low-end devices, while crashes previously found to affect the Theme Engine have been fixed.

The overall performance of the CyanogenMod platform has been enhanced in the new release, said post explains. The boot sequence should be faster now on multi-core devices, and there is also an option to force high-end graphics option on low-end devices.

Other changes in the new release include some for Trebuchet (decouple icon mask and background, which was meant to fix some icon packs), Settings (support for multiple hands-free devices), Privacy Guard (confirm on permission reset), and Profiles (add expanded desktop support).

You should head over to the CyanogenMod download portal to grab the new CM 11 M4 builds. A great deal of devices is already supported in it, and more of them might receive support very soon.
