As most female celebrities struggle to build muscle and be as toned as possible without coming off as too manly, there is at least one performer who is happy with what she has been given or, at least, happy enough not to kill herself to change it. In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Beyonce says she couldn’t possibly imagine herself without her curves, since the gym look many women sport today would certainly not work for her.

Fans have often seen Beyonce’s weight yo-yo-ing, either because of a movie part or simply because she was taking a break from the spotlight. Far from being a form of negligence and carelessness on her part, Beyonce stresses, her weight has always been a sign of where she was in life, which makes it so that she does not have a certain standard that she has to meet, or else. The star works out hard to stay in shape, and certainly watches her diet, but that’s not to say she’s striving to be skinnier than she should be, as she puts it.

“If you look like you’ve been spending a lot of time in the gym, then it just looks like you spend a lot of time in the gym. I feel best when I’m not really thin and not really heavy – when I’m still curvy. I really believe that everyone is supposed to be different, and whatever is a natural weight for you is usually what looks best. I never want to get to that point where it’s not natural.” the singer admits for the aforementioned magazine.

Nevertheless, while she strongly believes that we have all been created different, therefore should shun all generalization, Beyonce admits that she has to work really hard to maintain her ideal weight. In order to accomplish this, she works out and she eats healthy food, which implies a lot of effort and will power on her behalf. In the end, it’s all worth it, though, because she’s doing it to stay healthy and not to please others.

“I think it’s important to feel like a woman, as well as look like a woman. The truth is, it’s a lot of sacrifice. It’s more about your mental strength than physical strength. You have to push yourself. It doesn’t matter what trainer you have, and it doesn’t matter what program you’re on. You have to be healthy and make the right choices. I’m not one of those people who doesn’t have to work at it. I can’t eat what I want, and I can’t not go to the gym. I’m trying to do as much cardio as I can, so if I have a really long day of dancing in rehearsals, then I’ll run maybe three miles – if not, then I’ll run six.” Beyonce concludes by saying.
