Crysis 2 will also be playable in 3D by those who have televisions or monitors that run at 120 Hz, according to Cevat Yerli, who is the chief executive officer of Crytek. It will be the first title to feature 3D on all three major gaming platforms, the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC. Fortunately, there won't be any content difference between the 3D and the 2D versions of the game, so that everyone will get to enjoy the same action no matter if they own 3D-capable devices or not.

“The success of 3D movies like Avatar and the introduction of 3-D TVs from the hardware manufacturers tells us that this is the next big movement in entertainment, much like HD was years ago,” Yerli said to USA Today. He continued to comment that, “For games especially, 3D gives gamers an increased level of immersion, which can enhance an intense experience like Crysis 2.” He also promised that even the multiplayer component of Crysis 2 would be available in 3D.

Another recent announcement made by Crytek was that the game's site was in revision and that, when it would go live, it would start accepting multiplayer beta applications, with early adopters having a better chance to receive a key. The site is expected to go live tomorrow at 10:00 AM GMT, so Crysis fans who want to get in early on the action should set their alarms for that time.

Crysis 2 is a first-person shooter that is developed by Crytek, using the studio's latest graphics engine, CryEngine 3.0. It is a follow-up to the PC-exclusive Crysis that will move the action from a tropical-island environment to an urban setting, more precisely in New York. Players will fill Nomad's shoes again, the protagonist from the first game, and will get to use the newer and more streamlined version of the power-suit. Crysis 2 is set to be released on the PC, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 sometime this fall.
