Crytek, as the developer, and publisher Electronic Arts have announced that their upcoming Crysis 2 first-person shooter will be getting a multiplayer demo that will be released on January 25 and will be available exclusively on the Xbox 360 home gaming console from Microsoft.

The multiplayer demo will only be offered for those who have a Xbox Live Gold account, meaning that they are paying a monthly subscription for their right to play multiplayer and to get exclusive access to content like this Crysis 2 demo version.

The multiplayer demo will offer players a chance to fight through the ruins of New York City in a team versus team mode, meaning that the demo is best enjoyed with a number of familiar faces that have some previous experience in multiplayer first-person shooters.

The name of the map is Skyline and players will be also be able to enjoy the Crash Site game mode.

All players will get access to the newly redesigned Nanosuit, one of the central gameplay elements of the franchise, and will get to see a variety of weapons and try out tactics that can then be applied in the full version of Crysis 2.

Cevat Yerli, who is the chief executive officer of developer Crytek, has said that the demo is intended to show off the multiplayer mode of its new shooter, central to the overall success come launch day, being created by the United Kingdom studio formerly known as Free Radical.

Yerli added, “The Nanosuit gives gamers a sense of power they have yet to experience in any other shooter, and having New York City as a backdrop will present a different type of playground with even more possibilities.”

Crysis 2 has a launch date of March 22 in North America and March 25 in Europe, coming for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
