The team at Paradox Development Studios working on the Rajas of India expansion for Crusader Kings II is willing to share more information on the changes that are being introduced in the 2.1 patch, which will be offered for free to all those who have the base game.

On the official forums, the developers explain that they will introduce major changes to the map when it comes to Afghanistan, Transoxiana, and Siberia, regions that are outside of India proper.

The team explains that “If you consider the old edge of the map, you might have noticed that many counties are truncated, or in the wrong place. Places like Balkh and Samarkand were deemed important enough to be on the old map even though they are in reality located off the eastern edge. This is perhaps most obvious around the Urals, where we even have an ‘Omsk’ province.”

The improved map for Crusader Kings II means that the power of the Cumans has been increased, a Kirghiz state can now be played, a new Karluk culture is introduced alongside the Khanty, and Afghanistan has gained a new region.

Long-term fans will also notice changes made to other areas of the game map and the water areas have been separated into oceans, which make the Artificial Intelligence better at handling its fleets and the creation of trade outposts.

Paradox is also introducing some modifications to some core mechanics, including revolts, which should now play out more realistically, with all armies of those raising their flags against their liege united under the banner of the most powerful noble among them.

The team adds, “One little thing that's always annoyed me is that you can't easily go to a dead character's killer, so we now show a red skull on characters who have a known killer. You can simply click the skull to go to the killer.”

A new tab called Relations has been added to the character view, in order to make it easier for players to quickly get info they need.

The overall behavior of the AI has also been improved.

The Rajas of India expansion for Crusader Kings II allows players to play as families from the subcontinent, with three new religions to choose from and new ways to interact with rivals and vassals.

Powerful elephants will also be added to armies raised by Indian rulers and there are more modding options opened for the community.
