14 DAY TRIAL // Philip Newborough announced yesterday, February 8th, that another maintenance release of his CrunchBang 10 Linux distribution is available for download.
CrunchBang Linux 10 R20120207 is a Linux distribution powered by Debian's stable Linux kernel 2.6.32 and X.Org 7.5. CrunchBang is available for both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms, distributed as stable and backported ISO images.
However, the "backported" images of CrunchBang Linux 10 R20120207 ship with Linux kernel 3.2 and X.Org 7.6, and automatically track any apps that are introduced in the Debian backport repository.
The SLiM login manager has been replaced with GDM (GNOME Display Manager) and the 32-bit Linux kernel flavour now ships with 686 kernels instead of 486 kernels.
"Also addressing concerns over the previous 20111125 images, GDM has been restored as the default display manager, replacing SLiM. The reasons for this have been widely discussed on forums and back-pedalling to GDM really was the sensible option for Squeeze/Statler images." - said Philip Newborough in the release announcement.
