Michael Keaton won Best Actor and Best Actor in a Comedy at last night’s Critics’ Choice Awards 2015, which took place in Los Angeles, further cementing odds that he might win an Oscar too for Best Actor at next month’s gala.

His beautiful acceptance speech is available in the video below. Unfortunately, it’s not available in all territories.

Keaton says that he worked hard to get where he was, but that didn’t mean that he deserved to be put up on a pedestal and handed an award for it.

First of all, it wasn’t like he was saving or changing lives with his work: yes, he did work hard, but not as hard as people treating Ebola, or a single working mother, or a married working mother, or people having to fight and overcome discrimination every single day of their life.

Secondly, he didn’t work harder than his fellow nominees. He mentioned only Ethan Hawke, who was up for the same award for his role in “Boyhood,” with the camera quickly zooming in on the actor at his table, who seemed to be about to jump out of his skin with joy at hearing he’d just been namedropped.

Keaton wrapped up his speech by saying he was grateful and humbled, but also very lucky. JustJared reports that his luck ran out shortly after, when he fell off the stage as he was returning to his seat, and that he was seen limping afterwards. The broadcast didn’t include his slip and fall, but he is believed to not have injured himself too badly.
