A couple of hours ago, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in a serious car crash that left his £200,000 Ferrari a complete mess. Happily for him, the star was able to leave the scene unscathed, and to go about his business. It is believed the crash was by no means caused by alcohol abuse.

Ronaldo was on his way to training, the Associated Press and BBC report, driving behind his mate Edwin van der Saar, who was behind the wheel of a Bentley Continental. The star had to take a breathalyzer at the scene of the accident, which was flooded with policemen in a matter of just a couple of minutes, and it came out negative. As of now, it is not yet certain what might have caused such a crash so as to leave Ronaldo’s car a write-off, according to a statement coming from the police.

Apparently, the car “hit a roadside barrier in a two-lane tunnel near Manchester Airport,” the Telegraph informs. The impact was extremely powerful, as several witnesses have already told the media. “The Ferrari went straight into the wall, his front left hand wheel came off and then Ronaldo got out of the car,” one eyewitness revealed to BBC. Luckily, “he was all right, he was walking – he was a bit shaken,” but able to patiently wait for the police to answer all questions.

Pictures of what was left of the £200,000 have already been made available and, from what they show, it is truly a miracle that the star was able to get out unhurt, not to mention continue his day and attend training as if nothing happened. “The front of Ronaldo's car was completely mangled. There was metal all over the road, and debris. We had to dodge our way through it. My daughter said to me, ‘Oh my God – that’s Cristiano Ronaldo!’ It’s amazing he was okay because his car looked so bad.” another witness told the British media.

The Ferrari that Ronaldo just trashed is just one of the many cars that make up a fleet estimated at about £2 million. Also in it are a Bentley Continental GT Speed, a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, two Porsche Cayennes and a BMW M6.
