Cricket and Samsung have just announced the availability of the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet for a suggested retail price of $499.99 (385 EUR).

In addition, the carrier offers the slate as part of a bundle worth of $594.99 (455 EUR) that includes the Crosswave dual mode DO/Wi-Fi device and a first month Cricket broadband service.

Customers who choose to purchase this bundle will be able to use their tablet as a mobile hotspot and add multiple Wi-Fi-enabled devices that need Internet access.

Currently, the carrier offers the Crosswave along with plans ranging from $45 (35 EUR) to $65 (50 EUR) per month.

We're excited to introduce tablets to our Cricket customers. Our customers are finding new ways to incorporate devices into their active mobile lifestyle to stay connected, engaged and entertained and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a great device to help them do all those things,” said Matt Stoiber, senior vice president, devices for Cricket.

According to Cricket, the Wi-Fi enabled Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available starting today in Cricket company-owned stores.

The slate comes with Android 3.1 Honeycomb on board, 16GB of internal storage and will be available in Metallic Gray.

Hopefully, Cricket will be able to roll out the latest Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet by the end of the year. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 provides users access to more than 300,000 apps through the Android Market and offers full Google suite of services and apps, including Gmail, YouTube, Search, Gtalk and more.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Wi-Fi support is powered by a dual core NVIDIA Tegra2 processor clocked at 1 GHz, which is complemented by an ULP GeForce graphics processing unit.

It offers 1GB of RAM, as well as dual cameras (3-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera). The tablet’s 10.1-inch PLS capacitive touchscreen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
