More details are emerging after yesterday's sudden and unexpected news that Prince Harry and his girlfriend of two years, Cressida Bonas, broke it off. It seems that the couple wasn't seeing eye to eye anymore and there were numerous fights within the couple that finally led to the split.

Us Weekly reports that insiders decided to part ways with the prince after they got into “too much quarreling.” The blond was already spotted around town yesterday and she seemed radiant and happy as she stepped out with friends to grab a drink.

The 29-year-old University graduate had been dating the royal for two years and just last month rumors ran rife with their impending engagement. It seems those rumors couldn't have been further from the truth.

After the split, friends claim that Cressida is going to “focus on work for a while” as she takes up her job in the marketing department of an entertainment company. Her friends reveal that there are no plans at the moment to replace Harry because “she has no plans to start dating people.”

Previous reports soon after the break-up have pointed out that the two left things in a friendly manner and that they are still friends and the source seems to agree in this respect. However, the insider goes to contradict reports that the break was caused by pressure from the Royal family to get married or Cressida's neediness: “That's all wrong.”

The reason being given for the split is that the pair had “just a few too many disagreements. Too much quarreling.” We don't know what they were fighting about, but it can be speculated that the laid back Cressida was fed up with the constant attention she kept getting from the media since she became girlfriend to the Prince.

The insider concludes that “It just felt right for both of them to end it. They're at different places in their lives right now” and adds that the decision to split was mutual “It was a really tough decision to make, but they made it together.”

That being said, the couple are “not ruling anything out and they're still incredibly close,” which hints at a possible reconciliation.

People who follow news on the British royal family on a regular basis will remember that there is a precedent for such a practice. Prince William and his current wife Kate Middleton, were also briefly separated before getting married.
