Since babies can't really stomach hours of stage time, robots come into play

Special effects come in all kinds, even mechanized and/or robotic humanoids when the situation calls for it.

It so happens that there will soon be a soap opera airing in the UK, one that will involve a baby.

Actually procuring a baby to star in a show is harder than it sounds, though, so special effects wiz Chris Clarke decided this called for robotics to come into play.

The result was a somewhat disturbing robo baby, though the better term is animatronic. It has a metallic skeleton on top of which the so-called 'skin' gets strapped.

If nothing else, Clarke seems to have been able to implement a fairly wide variety of facial expressions.

For those of you who dare to try and digest such a sight, a couple of videos of the bionic wonder in action are available for your perusal.
