Skype has launched the version 2.0 of its phone over Internet service, which offers free computer to computer calls and a low per minute cost for conventional calls. The new version supports now also video call, and Creative rushed to launch the new Skype certified webcam.

The ~ 43 USD camera has a CMOS sensor that captures video at the 352X288 pixels at a 30 fps (frames per second). Its stand enables users to position it anywhere and the company claims that it's very easy to use and install.

Skype 2.0 added video calling and a toolbar for Microsoft Outlook that finds and dials contacts. The new version was launched today by eBay. The company acquired Skype for 2,6 billion USD.

"Making phone calls over the Internet is the new wave in communications. This WebCam Skype Edition represents a breakthrough, offering people an easy-to-use solution for communicating and sharing their experiences," said Jean-Marc Dupuis, Joint-General Manager of Creative Labs Europe.

"With the simplicity of its new service, Skype is sure to generate huge interest in video calling. We're delighted to be making our Skype-certified WebCam available for customers to purchase on the day of the announcement," added the Creative official.
