No word on the official retail management

Good news for U.S. Cowon Fans. The company has recently announced its intentions to send some of its cool items to the American shores. This happens after they previously limited the Q7 media player to the south-east Asia only, and they promised to bring the same version of its Mac- and Windows-compatible Q5W media player to US. Is this good news or what?

And if you're wondering about the W from the item's name, you should know that it stands for the cool wireless ability. Whether the device will strip out Korea-only DMB digital TV tuning support it's not official yet, but it's a sure thing it will have both 802.11g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0 to browse the web. It will even allow Flash animations, as well as easy access to other online cool content, not to mention it will also gain stereo audio support.

Just to make you get an impression on the device, you should know it reveals a wide 5-inch screen, claimed to be crisp enough for watching media content. As for its capabilities, the player is said to be able to deal with a lot of popular file formats on the market, such as: DivX, MPEG-4, Windows Media, and XviD clips. Want more? Well, according to Cowon: "the LCD offers greater-than-DVD resolution (800x480) and a 500:1 contrast ratio that bests most media players". It's good to check on that too.

In addition, the Q5W also wears a connector for some other components you might want to add, as well as RCA and S-video output. And hey, it also offers support for less common audio files and still image formats such as FLAC, OGG, and Nikon's NEF format for RAW photos. To make things even better, Cowon Q5W is said to feature an impressive internal storage capacity of about 40GB.

Wondering about the pricing and availability details? Well, if you really want one of these, you should start saving some pennies, as the 40 GB model is said to sell for about $550, while the 60GB can reach a top $600.

Just be happy Cowon will start shipping these babies in the US by the end of the month. Whether it will retail online or not, it's not known yet! And thanks electronista for the extra info!
