If you think PETA tends to go a bit overboard when protesting against animal cruelty, wait till you hear what a bunch of activists in Iowa have recently done.

According to BuzzFeed, these animal rights defenders, who are part of a group dubbed Iowans for Animal Liberation, have vandalized a cow sculpture made from butter.

The sculpture was supposed to go on display at this year's Iowa State Fair.

Since making butter is synonymous to torturing cows, at least as far as these activists are concerned, the Iowans for Animal Liberation saw fit to vandalize it.

Long story short, they poured red paint on it. What's more, they wrote “Freedom for All” on the sculpture's display case.

Apparently, the red paint symbolized “the blood of 11 billion animals murdered each year.”

Luckily, sculptor Sarah Pratt managed to repair the desecrated artwork.

Thus, by the time the Fair opened on Sunday morning, the butter sculpture looked just as it did prior to its very close encounter with the animal rights activists.
