Valve has just kicked off the beta stage for its upcoming Counter-Strike: Global Offensive online multiplayer shooter, confirming that more and more people will be allowed to try out the game before its eventual release.

Counter-Strike was one of the first truly popular online games, amazing millions of players from all over the world. Valve is currently trying to resurrect the series with Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which aims at drawing in those who still play the two latest installments, Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source.

After lots of internal testing, Valve is now ready to kick off the beta stage for Global Offensive, confirming that more and more players will be allowed access to it in the following months.

“We are kicking off the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta. Players currently in the stress test will notice more maps, more weapons, and most importantly more players,” Valve said. “During this Beta, community feedback is really important to us. Counter-Strike has been around for 12 years and has been played by over 25 million players. We want to make sure to capture all of that experience and knowledge as we make Counter-Strike: Global Offensive the best version of Counter-Strike.”

The first people to get into the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta are the top 7,000 active players of Source and 1.6. Additional entry keys are also going to be handed out to the top 500 Global Offensive players.

Valve has also mentioned that keys will be handed out by community websites and through other channels in the near future. A special survey will also be released in a few weeks that will help the company gauge interest in Global Offensive and get people on the waiting list for a key.

Expect some more details and news about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive soon, alongside a potential public beta for the online shooter.
