A couple of days ago we stumbled upon a rumor that Japanese optics manufacturer Cosina was about to reveal a new NOKTON 25mm F0.95 Type II lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras.

Today, the Nippon lens maker has officially announced the aforementioned optic along with the full list of features as well as price and availability.

Cosina NOKTON 25mm F0.95 Type II is a revamped version of the older Voigtlander NOKTON 25mm F0.95 lens launched back in 2010, and it seems to come with the same optical construction as the latter, including 11 elements in 8 groups, 47.3 degrees angle of view, 17cm minimum focusing distance, 10 rounded diaphragm blades and 52mm filter thread.

The difference between the new Type II model and its predecessor seems to be the newly designed aperture mechanism on the lens that now moves smoothly without making any noise. Cosina NOKTON 25mm F0.95 Type II will start shipping in March at a price of ¥105,000 / $1,000 / €734.
