Cooling Air Series A70 and A50

Corsair may not have the cheapest of hardware in the world, but it definitely lays emphasis on quality, a fact proven repeatedly by the various awards and certifications that its products have gained over the years. The company is largely recognized for its PSUs and especially memory products, but this does not stop it from periodically offering other kinds of devices, such as the recently launched A70 and A50 CPU coolers from the Cooling Air Series.

The new, high-performance A70 cooler uses four direct-contact 8mm copper heatpipes and a polished aluminum base that is placed directly on the central processing unit itself. Thus dissipated, the heat is then dispersed by a couple of dual-speed 120mm fans (1,600 and 2,000RPM options), arranged in what the press release calls a “Push-Pull” configuration. They are attached to the all-aluminum fin assembly with noise and vibration-reducing rubber mounts, for a superior cooling with little noise.

The Air Series A50 is more compact and has only three 8mm copper heatpipes that are integrated into a base plate. This plate is also directly placed on the processor, but the heat it conducts away is dispersed by a single 120mm fan instead of two. This spinner, however, uses the same type of rubber mounts as the ones employed by the A70.

"The Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H50 brought a new level of performance, design, expertise, and ease of installation to the CPU cooling market. Our all–new Air Series was designed with the same goals in mind." Jim Carlton, VP of Marketing for Corsair, said. "The Air Series A50 and A70 expand our CPU cooling line with class-leading performance that satisfies not only extreme performance enthusiasts, but anyone who understands that improved CPU cooling provides additional performance and stability, as well as enhanced protection from the damage heat can cause to their CPU."

The two coolers are compatible with CPUs for all current sockets, including AMD Socket AM2 and Socket AM3 and Intel LGA775, LGA1156, and LGA1366. The products will be available in April and will be accompanied by a two-year, limited warranty. Prices have not yet been mentioned.
