The ultra-compact "Flash Voyager Mini"

Corsair's Flash Voyager line of ultra-rugged USB flash drives is one of the best-known families of rugged portable storage solutions around, providing both large storage capacities and a very high level of endurance to just about everything one might throw at it (water, dust, shocks, you name it). However, since the Flash Voyager is not exactly petite, Corsair has decided to do something for those users who want their drives to be as small as possible and launched the Flash Voyager Mini, an ultra-compact drive with plenty of space under the rubber hood.

Using a rather "old" recipe, the drive features a cap-less retractable connector plug, which easily opens with the flick of the thumb. In the case of the Voyager Mini, Corsair has opted for Chip-on-Board (COB) technology, which allows the entire USB connector to be easily retracted into the drive. Of course, the whole flash chip is stored in the same type of rubber enclosure that made its larger sibling so popular.

"With the Flash Voyager Mini, we wanted the smallest form factor possible while maintaining the features that made the Flash Voyager line so popular, such as water resistance and shock-proof housing", said John Beekley, VP of Applications Engineering at Corsair.

And it would seem that the company really managed to come up with a product that fulfills these requirements, a product that's described as "summer-proof" by Stephen Schwartz, Associate Product Marketing Manager at Corsair: "We think of the Flash Voyager Mini as a summer-proof product. It can be left on the dashboard of your car on a hot summer day, or you can spill a drink on it and the data will remain protected."

For the time being, Corsair's Flash Voyager Mini will be available in just one version (4 GB), which is already available through the company's various channels at an estimated price of 30 US dollars, a very attractive price point, given the features this thing provides.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
