Corsair did what all other companies attending CES 2011 did and started to officially release its various products, such as a certain collection of solid state drives compatible with the latest SATA interface.

Since the 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show has finally started, all attending companies, naturally, decided to start releasing items in droves.

Already OCZ and OWC have brought forth their respective collections of solid state drives, based on SandForce controllers.

Now, Corsair has also made the introduction of its SSDs, although instead of SandForce chips they employ controller processors developed by Marvell.

To be more specific, the Marvell 9174 controller is used in the three new devices that the company has put together.

Together, they make up the Performance 3 series and share all specifications, except for their respective storage capacities and speeds.

Thus, in addition to the obligatory TRIM support, which preserves performance over time, the 2.5-inch units come with 128 MB of cache and a MTBF of 1.5 million hours.

The 64 GB P3 has the lowest speeds, as was expected, but they are still quite impressive, with 365 MB/s when reading and 110 MB/s when writing.

Secondly, the 128 GB P3 reads and writes data at 410 MB/s and 210 MB/s, respectively.

Finally, the 256 GB Performance 3 model is, obviously, the most capable, being able to read from its chips at 480 MB/s and write onto them at 320 MB/s.

Corsair did not provide any sort of pricing details, but the newcomers should start shipping or at least become available for pre-order soon enough, bundled with a 2.5-inch to 3.5-inch bracket.

“The new Intel 2nd Generation Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs offer enthusiasts great performance and overclocking flexibility, as well as a platform with new features such as SATA 6Gbp/s” said Thi La, VP and General Manager for Memory at Corsair.

“As a key supplier of performance components to enthusiasts, Corsair is proud to announce a range of products designed to extract maximum performance from this exciting new platform, namely our full line of Vengeance memory modules and new Performance 3 SSDs.”
