Corsair, one of the world's leading vendors of flash-based memory storage solutions and memory products, announced today the expansion of its line of Survivor GT flash drives with the introduction of two new models. Designed to provide users with a choice for a 32GB or a 64GB storage capacity, inside a storage solution that should also provide a considerable amount of protection from external factors.

“The Flash Survivor GT is the ultimate flash drive for users requiring both high speed and extreme ruggedness,” said John Beekley, VP of Technical Marketing at Corsair. “These drives will carry your data and media into the harshest environment and still provide rock-solid protection.”

Both models have been designed with a CNC-milled, 6061 Type 2 Aluminum enclosure, according to the manufacturer, making them both light and durable. In addition, the enclosure comes with an EPDM seal, which enables the two drives to be water resistant at a depth of up to 200 meters.

Aside from that, the drives have been featured with a traditional USB 2.0/1.1 interface and performance specifications that include a read and write speed of 30MB/s and 16MB/s, respectively. To sweeten the offer, Corsair will also throw in a USB extension cable and the Corsair dog tags, enabling users to wear the thumb drives around their neck. Designed to deliver an option for a portable and durable storage solution, the two Survivor flash drives are a noteworthy option for road warriors.

The new drives are backed by a 10-year warranty and have already been listed in Europe for prices of about 79 Euro and 149 Euro, for the 32 and 64GB versions, respectively. Designed as a rugged storage solution, these new drives offer a good balance between a large-capacity USB flash drive and the necessary data protection.
