Sometimes, the Internet offers us very good information, and this short compilation of videos will definitely come in handy to many housewives, novice cooks or cooking aficionados who want to cut short the time they spend in the kitchen.

Chefs usually have an impressive arsenal of shortcut tricks under their caps, but regular people do not know them. That's why I'm trying to unveil some of the secrets experienced cooks have kept well hidden so far.

The clips present some clever and ingenious ways to do common kitchen chores like peeling garlic, cutting carrots and tomatoes.  They are amazing timesaving tips and you'll wonder why you hadn't thought of them before.

The first one teaches us how to cut tomatoes quickly and easily using plates and a sharp knife. This is a great kitchen tip and is perfect for small cherry tomatoes, especially when you need to cut a lot of them for salad.

When I first saw the video I felt rather stupid because all this time, I've been cutting them one at a time like a fool. Although in the end it means more dishes to wash, I must admit it's a very clever trick.

The next video shows us how to peel lots of garlic superfast: put the bulbs in a metal bowl, use another one as a lid, and shake the whole thing vigorously.

You definitely have to try this next time you're cooking dinner. Besides the fact that it is working great, the trick is also a good exercise for hands. You will have a handful of peeled garlic in no time.

And if you are a hardboiled-eggs fan, here is a tip about how to scramble the eggs inside their shells so that you can eat them without choking on the yoke or making a mess with it. However, there is a downside to this trick: if you want to boil more eggs, I guess your arms will get pretty tired at some point.

For those who are interested in a quick and simple way to peel peaches and tomatoes without bruising the soft fruit, the following clip gives them the solution: boil some water, make a small ax at the bottom of each fruit with a sharp knife, then lower the fruit into the water. After 20 seconds or so, pull it out and submerge it into a bowl full of icy water. And there you go, now you can peel them quickly and easily.

I wish I knew about all these tricks years ago, as they would have spared me a lot of time. Have fun cooking!
