Kickstarter campaign aims to raise money for the building of such intelligent robots

For quite some time now, coral reefs worldwide are being left badly “bruised” by run-ins with either tourists or vessels that for one reason or another end up grounding.

In order to restore these damaged reefs, one must re-attach healthy pieces of coral onto them.

Since this is a rather time-consuming activity, especially when carried out by volunteers alone, several conservationists are now looking into the possibility of sending so-called coralbots to perform this task.

“Coral-bots are a team of robots that intelligently navigate across a damaged coral reef, transplanting pieces of healthy corals along the way,” the people who came up with the design for these coralbots explain.

The idea of repairing damaged coral reefs in this manner is indeed a noteworthy one. Hence the rolling out of a Kickstarter campaign meant to raise money in support of this green-oriented project.

Those wishing to help officially launch the Coralbots project can do so here.
