The development team working on Dead Space 3 at the Visceral studio is keen to create a game experience that offers alternative experiences for those gamers who are interested in exploring all areas of the game.

Steve Papoutsis, the executive producer working on Dead Space 3, tells the Official PlayStation Magazine that, “Think of the game having a variety of hubs, and then there are spokes that come off those hubs. Some are required for your alpha path or your A to Z progression through the game.”

“You might find an audio, video or text log that motivates you to go find this place; you might be just exploring because you want to see what’s over in that corner of the world and find an interesting-looking door that could lead to a dungeon, so to speak, of stuff to do,” he then syas.

The developer then adds, “There’s a lot of motivation that we hope drives the players to go explore the world and see what’s around. There are a lot of motivators in Dead Space 3 that are really going to promote a sense of exploration and getting off the beaten path – and scares aplenty.”

Visceral will make sure that the core path through Dead Space 3 will offer the same blend of action and horror as previous titles in the series while giving gamers more freedom when it comes to the alternate paths.

Dead Space 3 introduces cooperative play for the first time in the history of the series, allowing gamers to play EarthGov Sergeant John Carver.

The development team will also deliver new weapons and new Necromorph enemies, suited to the new snow dominated game setting.

Dead Space 3 is currently set to arrive on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC at some point during 2013.
