Another member of the 1KW family rises

I?m really glad to see that CES is over. Now don?t get me wrong, I like CES and I have a lot of coverage related work to do during the 4 days of IT madness, but I really don?t like the way everyone keeps the new stuff secret in order to have something new to show at CES, when they could have launched the product months ago. So I?m glad everything is back to normal and that the producers have reverted to the usual press releases.

But, as I?ve previously said, not everyone likes CES even if they do get invited. For example, first rumors regarding Cooler Master?s newest PSU came from various websites around the world and although the PSU is alive and well, the manufacturers decided not to showcase it at CES. The RS-A00-EMBA is a little larger that a standard ATX PSU but the six 12v rails and a maximum wattage of 1000W more than makes up for the size.

However, what I really like about this PSU is the abundance of connectors and cables. The wiring management goes as follows: 1 Motherboard 20+4 connector, 1 CPU 4-Pin header, 1 CPU 8-Pin header, no less than 4 PCI-e 6-Pin (quad SLI and 8800 SLI capable!) connectors, 2 PCI-e 8-Pin new power headers, 8 SATA and 6 Molex connectors along with 2 4-pin floppy headers.

However, the most interesting thing about the PSU is that it comes with the newer 8-pin PCIE headers which will be used by future PCIE 2.0 compatible VGA cards in order to suck even more juice from the +12V lines than 75W (currently the maximum allowed value for a 6-pin connector). The price tag will be around $230-$260 and the PSU will probably come out in March this year.
