Like all large-tier hardware makers, the quite successful company known as Cooler Master has a number of smaller brands that it has acquired over the years. CM Storm is one of them and deals in gaming-oriented peripherals and other types of inventions. Just a short while ago, Razer caused some waves on this front with its redesigned Lachesis gaming mouse. To offer something of at least the same caliber, Cooler Master had CM Storm come up with the Inferno.

The name may be somewhat confusing, considering that that word has been used in the names of a great many products over time. The Inferno series of solid state drives from Patriot is one of the more recent examples. Still, even though it is not entirely original, the word Inferno at least carries the required air of hype that gamers look for in a product.

CM Storm made a point of forming its electronic in such a way as to make it best suited for playing MMO games (massively multiplayer online games). As such, it was given a 4,000 DPI twin laser sensor and no less than eleven buttons. Said button set includes the Rapid Fire and Storm Tactics Multiplier keys, while the remaining nine are fully programmable. Not only that, but the company even put in 128KB of on-board memory meant to assist in the setting up of game profiles. As for actual performance and rapid communication with the PC itself, CM Storm went for a gold-plated USB connector, leading to a response time of 1ms.

“The CM Storm Inferno was designed from the ground up to be a gaming mouse with MMOs in mind. With no less than 11 buttons, nine of which are programmable, you have access to everything you need just a simple click away. In addition, with a lift-off distance of 2mm, 1000Hz polling, 1ms response time and a max speed of 115 inches per second and you have a well rounded gaming mouse. The Inferno has also been ergonomically designed for maximum comfort over extended periods of time. The CM Storm Inferno is built for winners, no matter the game,” states the official press release.

Like all gaming gear, the newcomer will sell for quite a bit more than ordinary mice, in this case roughly $60. It should already have made its way into stores.
