Glu Mobile launches iPhone version of Nintendo Wii's Cooking Mama

Glu Mobile has announced the availability of its Cooking Star iPhone game. Apple handset owners looking to become a Star Chef can visit the App Store and download the $2.99 app immediately. The game offers eight mini-games with five difficulties each, the ability to unlock real recipes and new mini-titles added periodically (via software updates).

Cooking Star is described as a “deliciously fun game” that lets players tilt, touch, flick, and flip to cook up mouth-watering meals in eight mini-games that use the iPhone or iPod in new and fun ways. Players must master the menu and achieve a five-star status to unlock real recipes in their cookbook. Glu also serves up additional content games by releasing updates on a regular basis.

“Cooking Star is yet another example of Glu’s exceptional repertoire of original IP games and our emphasis on bringing a wide range of titles to the very best mobile platform and devices,” Jill Braff, senior vice president, global publishing, Glu Mobile, said. “Our team has created a fun, casual game for iPhone and iPod touch users where you are encouraged to play with your food.”

Cooking Star's main features include:

- a wide and varied set of cooking puzzles that get increasingly trickier as players progress; - the ability to master each mini-game to unlock real recipes and build their cookbook; - new fun and simple ways to cook that take full advantage of the innovative multi-touch user interface and accelerometer – flip kebabs, stir chowder, slice tofu, mix salad, and more; - regular updates as Glu adds additional gameplay and features.

As noted above, Cooking Star is immediately available for $2.99 from Apple’s App Store. The game is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch and requires the iPhone 2.2.1 Software Update.
