Social gaming recipe

Casual-oriented publisher Majesco has entered into a partnership with the wonderfully named Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, granting the videogame creator the right to develop titles linked to the television and all-around domestic arts personality.

Neither talked about what kind of games using the Martha Stewart name Majesco is interested in developing, although something linked to social networks seems to be the strongest bet, considering their explosive rise in recent years and their success amongst women gamers.

Majesco is well know for publishing the Cooking Mama titles, which were then expanded to other areas like gardening and crafting objects. They relied on simple gameplay, bright colors and friendly main characters to draw in new players that, otherwise, would not be interested in playing games on their PC. The Cooking Mama series has sold more than 4 million units world wide since it was launched.

Martha Stewart currently has a day time talk show program which could be a great launch platform for a new series of videogames. She is strongly associated with the concept of good living, offering cook books, home craft books and a range of actual objects bearing her name. It's not clear whether Martha Stewart approves of the recipes Cooking Mama herself prepares in her videogames.

Here is what the television star commented on the announcement, “Women are increasingly engaged in social gaming. We feel confident that this new offering will delight loyal customers who are active in the space while introducing a new generation to the brand,” while Jesse Sutton, the Chief Executive Officer of Majesco, stated, “Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia offers a vast wealth of content and has a passionate following. Branching into the interactive entertainment space is a natural next step, and Majesco Entertainment is proud to be the exclusive partner.”
