Wii games console from Nintedo will feature a new system called Play History, system that keeps track of what you are playing, when and for how long. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo president affirmed that he hopes Play History will improve the way games are regarded within families and that hostility towards games will gradually disappear.

According to Shinichiro Tamaki, representative of Nintendo's research and development department, the Play History record can not be deleted and he does not consider the new Play History system to be controversial.

He explains that this feature will be able to help parents to keep track of their children and to analyze if the time that their children spend playing on the console is the correct one.

Play History system could prove to be an interesting function as some users might be intrigued by finding out how much time they've spent playing a certain game. According to Nintendo officials, this is why they decided to make the Play History system impossible to reset. With users' cooperation, Nintendo wishes to compile data to find out which game was the most played during the course of a year.

Play History might seem like a controversial system but Nintendo officials have managed to point out the positive functions of the system.
