Nuance Communications, the company behind one of the most sophisticated voice recognition technologies out there, has announced an update to Dragon Go! for iPhone and iPad. The app now lets Hulu Plus subscribers access current season TV shows and popular movies simply by asking with their voice.

Dragon Go! is a US-only service. It currently boasts more than 200 content providers that make it a mobile concierge via a unique combination of voice recognition and natural language understanding that allows it to understand what people mean when they ask for stuff.

For example, now that Dragon Go! integrates with Hulu Plus, users can say, “Watch Modern Family,” “Find Saturday Night Live skits,” or “Watch Age of the Dragons,” and begin watching their show right on the iDevice, immediately.

Commenting on their new release, Michael Thompson, senior vice president and general manager, Nuance Mobile, said: “Mobile consumers are demanding a search experience that does more than just serve up a list of blue links – they want direct access to relevant content.”

“And by working with more than 200 of the most trusted content providers like Hulu Plus, consumers can watch, listen to and find just about anything from anywhere, just by speaking naturally,” added Thompson.

Users can ask for content from the likes of AccuWeather, Ask.com, Bing, Dictionary.com, ESPN, Expedia, Facebook, Fandango, Last.fm, LiveNation, Milo.com, OpenTable, Pandora internet radio, Rotten Tomatoes, Spotify, Twitter, Wikipedia, Wolfram|Alpha, Yelp, YouTube, Yahoo!, and now, Hulu Plus.

Nuance’s Dragon Go! now features the largest direct-access content ecosystem in mobile, according to its makers. The latest version, Dragon Go! 1.2.0. also brings Expedia Support.

US customers can download Dragon Go! for free from the iTunes App Store. It requires iOS 4.0 or later and it’s compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), and iPad.
