Haven’t had enough of the dual-OS saga? Still hoping you’ll be able to switch between Windows and Android whenever you feel like it?

Ignoring ASUS’ woes of trying to reconcile the green and the blue, here comes a new Kickstarter project that aims at delivering the same effect, which is taking a slightly different path when doing so.

Unlike ASUS, Console OS doesn't believe easy, intuitive dual OS functionality has to be forged into the device’s hardware before it exits the factory.

The team behind the project is the same breathing life into the iConsole.tv, but this time they are pushing an Android 4.4 version that can run as a secondary or standalone OS.

Console OS is said to be compatible with a bunch of popular tablet machines, including the Dell Venue 8 Pro, Lenovo Yoga 2 or ASUS Transformer Book T100.

If that’s not enough to convenience you to root for the project, bear in mind that Console OS apparently runs on Intel’s x86 architecture and is also supposed to deliver better performance than any virtualized or emulated solution.

Sure, there are no guarantees that all these statements are in fact true, until Console OS steps in the real world. Nevertheless, giving this endeavor a shot won’t leave you broke in the cold.

For a meager $10 / €7 contribution, you’ll receive a Pro version of the software, which allows you to run Android apps in Windows, by virtue of the Console OS interface and free upgrades for life.
