Windows Phone continues to gain traction in the low-end tier, as more and more OEMs start releasing cheap smartphones in their native countries.

Proof of that are the latest Windows Phone figures in Pakistan, which show that Microsoft's market share has tripled in the last year leapfrogging iOS for the most important OS in the country.

That was possible thanks to the Lumia 535, which is the most popular Windows Phone-powered device in the country. But let's talk about another possible success in the smartphone business: the Griffe W1.

The Griffe W1 is a new smartphone launched by an Algerian OEM called Condor. The handset has been recently unveiled in Algeria, as WindowsCentral points out.

This is a budget-friendly smartphone that will sell for only $90 (€80.5) outright, which is a great price considering its specs.

Modest specs, but great price

Condor's Griffe W1 will most likely run just about any apps or games you throw at it, thanks to the fact that it packs 1GB of RAM.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Another strong point of the budget-friendly device is the fact that it has dual-SIM support. Apart from that, it offers a wide range of connectivity options including Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, and GPS with AGPS.

Griffe W1 comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera up in front.

It also sports a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixel resolution. Condor has also announced that Griffe W1 ships with Windows Phone 8.1, but the OEM has yet to confirm whether or not the phone will receive a Windows 10 upgrade at some point.
