The development team at Relic and publisher SEGA deliver a new major patch for Company of Heroes 2, which is designed to shift the balance of the title and to add a new set of maps to the rotation, while players can also benefit from a tweaked war spoils system.

The official announcement states that “previously some item categories were weighed heavier than intended resulting in a greater drop frequency. e.g. face plates. In addition, we have enhanced the player’s ability to sort and filter items within the inventory. A new Wehrmacht commander has also been added to the game. It focuses on infiltration tactics, territory control, and offensive maneuvers.”

Company of Heroes 2 has been launched a long time ago so the maps have become very familiar to all those who play the real-time strategy, and the company is now adding five new maps created by the community to the mix.

Their names are Overgrowth and Karelia Summer for 2 to 4 gamers, Lemberg Fall 1944 for 4 to 6, and Pinsk Marshes and Narva River for 6 to 8 players.

Company of Heroes 2 is now more balanced

Relic is also changing unit behavior and weapon usage in order to eliminate one-sided abilities and to offer both sides in combat a chance to react in new and interesting ways.

A wide range of mechanics of Company of Heroes 2 are being tweaked and gamers will probably need to play a few matches before they once again get a good handle on their favorite tactics.

A new feature allows players to choose how to use their vehicles, restricting their firing profiles to some subset of units.

The changes and the new maps probably mean that it’s a good time for newcomers to begin playing Company of Heroes 2 and for long-term fans to return to the real-time strategy experience.

Long-term updates and expansions

Company of Heroes 2 is also delivering two new Commanders, one for each side, and the company is continuing to listen to feedback that comes from the community in order to further improve the balance in the coming months.

The development team at Relic is also set to launch a new solo campaign based on the Battles in the Ardennes, which will allow gamers to take control of United States units that are facing an onslaught of German elite forces in freezing temperatures and in snowy conditions.
