A very anticipated game

Strategy games are quite numerous these days, but only some of them go on and achieve critical and fan acclaim. One such franchise is Electronic Arts' Command & Conquer, which has given birth to many separate universes like Red Alert or Generals.

But the most iconic one is without a doubt Tiberium, which tells the story of a future Earth invaded by an alien mineral that slowly but surely engulfs the whole world and threatens to destroy it. Around it, a worldwide conflict between the Global Defense Initiative and the Brotherhood of Nod erupts, with the latter being led by the charismatic but mysterious Kane.

Now, as EA revealed that the dramatic conclusion would be launched next year in the form of Command & Conquer 4, fans are desperately seeking out pieces of information about the game. But thanks to GameTrailers, we now see the very first pieces of trademark C&C cinematics, as part of a special feature.

The new teaser trailer shows an Earth ravaged by Tiberium and humanity on the brink of extinction. It is this desperate situation that has seemingly forced the GDI to call upon Kane in order for the two former rival factions to collaborate and save each other. A conference room filled with GDI delegates eagerly awaits Kane and he makes his dramatic entry. With the glow of a prophet surrounding him, the Nod leader reveals that the only thing that might save them is the Tacitus, an alien relic that has been sought after by the two factions.

Now for hardcore fans, the Tacitus has already made quite a few appearances in Kane's Wrath add-on for C&C 3, and, in the last mission, it was given to Nod's artificial intelligence, LEGION. What has happened between the events of that add-on and the beginning of C&C 4 is still anybody's guess. Hopefully we will get to see more of this great title as its 2010 release date approaches. Until then, enjoy watching the trailer and let the speculation begin.
