Comic Studio is a great app that allows Nintendo 3DS users to create their own comics on the fly, even letting them draw using the touch screen of the 3DS.

This piece of software looks promising indeed, as apparently it seamlessly allows users to try their hand at being a mangaka. Artists will be able to create their own drawings within the app, using the touch screen of the 3DS.

Comic Studio will be specifically designed in order to facilitate the creation of manga and comics on the 3DS, and will feature extensive customization options.

Users will first specify how large their comic will be, and then each page can have its own individual layout, with panels of different sizes. Freehand drawing will be fully supported, with a wide array of brushes and options to enlarge and shrink them and various effects to apply to the finished artwork.

The app will also allow for pictures to be used within the app as reference material for sketching, even pictures taken with the 3DS, and will be able to hold around 6.4k pages of material, as Siliconera reports.

The comic-creating program will also come with its own library of stock expressions and visual effects, that can be added to scenes in order to better convey the characters' emotions and story dynamism.

After everything is done, various text balloons can be easily added and filled in in order to complete the story. And once that is done, files can be exported as JPG images, which can then be shared from the SD card to the PC or emailed via the Nintendo 3D's browser.

It certainly seems like a nifty tool to have, a robust all-in-one studio for aspiring comic artists.

Comic Studio will only be available in Japan for the moment, launching on January 15, 2014 via the Nintendo eShop.
