We hope you’re ready because one of the biggest events in film, comics, and games is about to go down in San Diego in exactly one week’s time: San Diego Comic-Con kicks off on July 24 and runs through July 27. The second “Avengers” film, “Age of Ultron,” will be one of the films featured.

Right now, “Avengers” is Marvel’s biggest franchise, pretty much setting the bar extremely high for all the other movie studios working on superhero films. It’s got a stellar cast and record box office gross so far, so this explains the hype around it.

One year ago, at the 2013 edition of SDCC, Marvel announced that the sequel would be called “Age of Ultron,” thus revealing the main villain our favorite superheroes would go up against. If you’re familiar with the comic book event of the same name, you know that Ultron is not the kind of baddie you take down just like that, with minimal effort.

We already know that James Spader will be playing Ultron but, until now, we did not have a proper look at the character. We’re in luck because Entertainment Weekly has just released the cover for their annual Comic-Con issue and right up there with Iron Man and Captain America is Ultron.

Click on the image above to see it in full and get a proper look at the updated costumes of the superheroes and at Ultron himself.

Ultron is a sentient robot created by Tony Stark, who returns to Earth with his Sentinels to conquer it. In the comic book event, they show no consideration for human life or its physical imprint on the planet, so they destroy New York completely. It is up to the Avengers (Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye, Thor, and Black Widow) to stop them.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will also introduce two new superheroes to the franchise, the Scarlett Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Quicksilver, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Franchise regulars Cobie Smulders, Samuel L. Jackson, Paul Bettany will also return, with Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, and Jeremy Renner in the leads. As Marvel fans have come to expect, iconic comic book creator and former Marvel President Stan Lee will also be making a cameo.

The film will be out in theaters on May 1, 2015 but, until then, we’re to expect a lot of awesome new stuff coming out of Comic-Con, including posters and perhaps stills as well, but also a trailer. Or a teaser trailer, at the very least. These should give us a better idea of what we’re to expect from the film.
