14 DAY TRIAL // When Marvel and its stars took over Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 over the weekend to introduce footage from next year’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the audience went wild. Their reaction was even more insane after the screening, which was timed to coincide with the release of new concept art on the Marvel official page.
Two of these posters we have seen before, last week, when Marvel released them on the same page. As it turns out, they and many others are actually part of one huge ensemble photo – and it spells grave danger for our heroes.
In “Age of Ultron,” the Avengers (that is Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, and Hawkeye) and twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will join forces to battle the sentient robot Ultron and his army.
“For better or worse (trust us, it’s worse), Tony Stark has devised a plan that won’t require him to put on the Iron Man suit anymore, and should allow Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and the Hulk to get some much needed R&R as well. His solution is Ultron, self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence designed to help assess threats, and direct Stark’s Iron Legion of drones to battle evildoers instead,” EW says of the synopsis of the film.
The problem with Ultron is that he decides he can do so much better than just replace Iron Man and fight for peace. So he builds his own army and plans to eliminate all those who stand between them and total destruction. Hint: the Avengers too.
The posters show them engaging in combat with the robots, and by the looks of it, they’re not exactly winning the fight.
“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be out in theaters in May 2015. A trailer is expected to drop soon, and if it’s anything like the one shown at the convention, you might be in for a huge surprise.
