He can do drama and he can do comedy, even romantic comedy. With “Drive,” Ryan Gosling should prove himself to be the most versatile leading man in Hollywood: the red bad trailer for the action-packed thriller has been introduced at Comic-Con 2011.

Promotion for the film officially kicked off at this year’s Cannes Film Festival back in May, but, even so, there’s been very little info about it except the official synopsis, as Entertainment Weekly also points out.

The red band trailer should put an end to that, promising a movie that combines insane action with excellent acting from a strong stellar cast, and even some drama on the side.

“With only about a month and a half until its release, it was beginning to seem like we were never going to see a real trailer for Drive, the Cannes darling starring Ryan Gosling,” EW notes.

Then, Film District unveiled the red band trailer for it at Comic-Con – you can see it below in full. Moreover, the studio also sent stars Gosling and Carey Mulligan at the convention to promote it.

“Drive received some of the most positive reviews at Cannes back in May, but the general public had seen precious little until the reveal yesterday in Hall H,” EW writes.

“Expanding on the two short clips released for Cannes, the trailer introduces us to the unnamed Driver, a movie stunt man who moonlights as a getaway driver. Critics have praised the film for its throw-back ruthlessness and a tone reminiscent of Steve McQueen movies,” the same media outlet further writes.

Besides the two actors, “Drive” also stars the curvy Christina Hendricks from “Mad Men,” Ron Perlman and Oscar Isaac. It’s directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, who is also the man behind the critical hit “Bronson,” starring Tom Hardy.

“Drive” arrives in theaters on September 16, 2011. Below is the trailer – *please note that some discretion is recommended when viewing it.
