With the advancements in flash memory, USB flash drives have been getting smaller and smaller and are now at a stage where only the actual size of the USB port prevents them from shrinking any further. Verbatim is one manufacturer of such devices, even having a product line dubbed Micro USB. Now unveiling the second generation of such devices, Verbatim has released models that are small, capacious and vibrantly colorful.

The company has unveiled Micro USB drives that are just about as thin as a Euro coin. They employ a technology known as System-in-Package (SiP), which packs all the electronic components inside a sealed, strong casing, making the flash drives resistant to static discharges, water and dust. Models can store up to 32GB of data and their packaging uses up to 90% less plastic.

“The Micro USB drive can be easily secured to a mobile phone or key ring using the mini lanyard included in the pack. That makes this small device with its big storage capacity my constant companion that I can use anywhere without having to remember to take it with me or worrying about damaging it,” Hans Christoph Kaiser, Business Development manager Flash & USB Memory Verbatim, said.

The Verbatim Micro USB flash drives measure 30 (L) x 2 (H) x 12 (W) mm and weigh 1.2 grams. Furthermore, as the title suggests, they come in a variety of colors, such as “Eucalyptus Green,” “Hot Pink,” “Caribbean Blue,” “Sun Kissed Yellow” and “Volcanic Orange.” Their storage capacities range between 2GB and 16GB, with an extra 32GB model soon to come.

The new products in the Micro USB line from Verbatim are already available in stores and have prices of £7.99 for the 2GB model, of £12.99 for the 4GB drive, of £19.99XY for the 8GB version and of £34.99 for the flash drive with a capacity of 16GB. The 32GB Micro USB will be out soon.
