That's right, you read that correctly, the National Football League has reached out to all of these singers, Coldplay, Rihanna and Katy Perry and has asked them to appear in the traditional Super Bowl Halftime performance, which is one of the most watched televised events in the world, but it asked them to pay in order to appear.
DigitalSpy claims that the singer were approached by officials and asked if they were willing to contribute with money before the event, or give out a “contribution of their post-Superbowl tour income to the League, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig.”
Usually, artists would have to get paid for such a performance, but since this year's Super Bowl was the most watched television event in history, the League is hoping that it will be able to attract artists without having to pay them, who will do it just for the exposure.
Moreover, it wants them to fork over some money in return for the favor. So far, insiders have said that Rihanna has laughed off at the offer, which means she won't be appearing any time soon. It's going to be interesting to see if the NFL can actually convince an artist to appear and pay money for it at the same time.
