They have announced it via Twitter in response to a user's question

Codemasters have announced on Twitter that they are going to remove the Games For Windows Live DRM from DiRT 3 and actually move DiRT 3 and its DLC over to Steamworks.

According to their Twitter post, this might not happen in 2013 “@TweetingTommy32 We are working on it but it may not be until the new year.”

The Games For Windows Live will be shutting down on July 1, 2014 and soon after, in August, the closure of Games for Windows Marketplace will follow.

Therefore, a number of developers and publishers have announced that they have decided to port or turn off the DRM in their games, so that players will still be able to access these titles in the future.

The guys from Rocksteady and Warner Bros. “have marched up to the plate to publicly address their switch from GFWL to Steamworks with the Batman: Arhkam games.” Quite a nice gesture, as it allows players to enjoy Batman titles even after the cessation of Microsoft's Games For Windows Live service.

On the other hand, the guys from Capcom haven't been “so exceptionally vigilant with updating gamers on the whole GFWL ordeal.”

If Valve manages to gather support for the SteamOS and gets gamers and companies to come over, even more companies will be stepping up and relinquishing the use of GFWL. It would be quite a change to have Valve's free Steamworks SDK in favor of the use of GFWL.

Moreover, there is a list available of games that are switching to Steamworks. Among them, as we have already said, players can find DiRT 3, but also Bioshock 2, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planeta, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Fallout 3.

These are just a few examples, and interested gamers can check out the full list and get some more information concerning the games.
