Maintain has released an update to its general purpose utility for Mac OS X, Cocktail. The program is an award-winning digital toolset with a variety of practical features and tweaks to help users get the most out of their computer. It is a Universal Binary and comes in several editions, for several versions of Apple’s Mac OS. Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard versions are paid (demo versions are available), while older installments (Panther edition) are completely free.

“Cocktail 4.7.1 (Snow Leopard Edition) has been released,” Maintain says on its website. Whether or not someone at Maintain is also a select Apple developer, the company continues to talk about the newest release saying, “It adds Mac OS X 10.6.3 compatibility and ability to stop Cocktail from logging out, restarting or shutting down the computer at the end of a scheduled programme.” (emphasis ours). We’re just as anxious to see Mac OS X 10.6.3 publicly launched, although Apple is yet to release the third incremental update to its Snow Leopard operating system.

“The update also features improvements on the clear Adobe Flash Player caches and cookies procedure as well as overall performance improvements,” Maintain adds. “The update is highly recommended for all users of Cocktail (Snow Leopard Edition),” it concludes.

A note about Cocktail

Softpedia readers can immediately obtain a free, trial version of Cocktail using the first download link below. When unregistered, Cocktail Tiger Edition, Leopard Edition and Snow Leopard Edition will run in demo mode and will expire after ten uses (application launches). The Panther Edition of the app is distributed as freeware and does not require a license, therefore those still running Mac OS X Panther can use Cocktail for free.
