According to the developers, Cocktail 4.1.4 delivers many “under-the-hood optimizations for faster and more reliable performance, major improvements in Adobe font cache clearance and updated Automator actions,” and some other stuff. Also worth noting is that version 4.1.4 fixes compatibility issues with FAT32 volumes.
Maintain's Cocktail is a digital toolset that helps Leopard users get the most out of their computer. The application is basically aimed at simplifying the use of advanced UNIX functions, giving you access to hidden Mac OS X settings. For Disks, you can also automatically check the SMART (Self Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) status, modify sleep settings for portable computers, allow or prevent mounting of external disks during system startup, enable or disable Sudden Motion Sensor and more.
For your entire system, you can run periodic maintenance scripts, enable or disable Spotlight indexing of selected disk, erase Spotlight index for selected disk, rebuild Launch Services database, enable Kiosk mode and, of course, perform other actions.
