Cobra Electronics and iSpeech have just announced that they have signed a partnership to enable Blackberry and Android users to instantly listen and respond to incoming text and email messages through Cobra's Citizen Band Radios and Marine products

A well-known manufacturer of mobile electronic devices, Cobra Electronics will be integrating iSpeech technology into several Cobra products, thus enhancing users' experience as they won't have to check with their mobile device as long as they're using these Cobra products.

“Putting efforts into partnerships such as this with iSpeech is important to enhancing our products for a better user experience,” said Sally Washlow, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics.

“The iSpeech mobile application called DriveSafe.ly reads text (SMS) messages and emails aloud on our Bluetooth enabled CB radios, in real time, without drivers touching the mobile phone. This will be a great tool for many professional drivers,” added Washlow.

Following the newly announced partnership, iSpeech, one of the leading providers of cloud-based mobile speech technology, is to provide its DriveSafe.ly technology to Cobra products users for a smooth user experience with human-sounding text to speech (TTS) and human quality automated speech recognition (ASR).

As soon as the technology is activated, users will be able to communicate by sending and receiving messages without using their hands (hands-free).

Incoming text messages are read aloud through the compatible CB (Citizen Band) radio's speaker system, so the user will be able to replay the message, speak a response back to the sender or even call back the sender.

“iSpeech is committed to discouraging distracted driving through the use of speech technology and mobile applications. We are excited to team up with an industry leader like Cobra to deliver on this promise,” said Yaron Oren, chief marketing officer, iSpeech.

Both Cobra and iSpeech will be available for product demos at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
