The hottest spot in town

Can there be any doubt in your mind that Club Bill Gates is the hottest spot in town? Somehow, I can't associate Bill Gates with clubbing. But maybe my view of the world is limited. Just because the people of Sarajevo seem to be very fond of their Club Bill Gates. The owner obviously understands the value of branding, and the fact that Microsoft's co-founder is an inestimable resource in this aspect. And Bill Gates, unlike Microsoft, is not a trademark, even including his caricature.

Of course, a lot can be said about Club Bill Gates. First off, the Windows are rather problematic. Quite old in fact, and they could do with an upgrade. Something a little more stylish, with transparency effects. It's all about end user experience. But alas... Club Bill Gates usually gets updates once every five years. Actually, as a matter of fact, the owner plans to replace Seven Windows in 2010.

And make no mistake about the location. This is all about territory. And about keeping potential customers from the Linux restaurant and the Steve Jobs pizza place across the road. It's a constant competition between the three over the intellectual properties of receipts, and over the largest share of clients. Club Bill Gates leads in this aspect. As the Linux restaurant only serves open source water, at least it's free. And the Jobs pizza place has only one kind of pizza...

By comparison, Club Bill Gates has a more elaborate menu. But security is a real drag. That's one place where you have to keep your eyes wide opened. There's no other alternative. Additionally, all sorts of viruses are incubating and you can get infected at any time. Still, the Vista is worth all the trouble and the risks. At least the eXPerience got a lot better in 2007, compared to 2001.
