A man dressing up as a clown in Northampton, UK has become a town legend. He had spoken out in an interview in a bid to put an end to rumors about being dangerous and stalking people.

"I just wanted to amuse people," he tells the Northampton Chronicle.

He has been roaming the streets at night dressed as the Pennywise character in Stephen King movie, "It."

"BEEP BEEP!" he would say if people walked by, staying in character and terrifying the Northampton community.

He set up a Facebook page where the sightings of him could be documented and where he could have a chat with his fans.

"Its not me in the papers! I don't terrorize people I just want to be spotted," he complains.

He has agreed to the interview because he is afraid that people are getting the wrong message after seeing him.

"No, i don't have a knife on me!, thats just stupid rumors spread by stupid people. I'm also 'not' on twitter as it confuses the heck out of me," he says on Facebook.

"I'm also 'not' apart of Dr Fright's Night for those interested but it seems to be promoting them and others which is great! I 'haven't' been knocking on houses and asking to paint window sills!?" he reiterates in another post.

He explains that he only aims to amuse people, even if that means giving them a bit of a scare.

"Most people enjoy being a bit freaked out and then they can laugh about it afterwards. [...] It’s like watching a horror movie, when people get scared they usually start laughing," he describes.

He has detailed a lot of scenes from the Stephen King flick and he adds that it is getting harder to remain anonymous, since he is being followed to his home.

"Naturally, some people would have been extremely frightened by what they saw, but I hope many are starting to see it as a bit of harmless fun," he says.
