Searching for a long lost love

LucasArts has made the surprise announcement that it is developing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II via Facebook, the game coming quite soon after the launch of the first in what is becoming a series. The surprise was compounded by the fact that any sequel needs to dance a bit around the ending of the first The Force Unleashed, which wrapped up the story pretty tight. And now the company is ready to offer some details on the way the new game will entice the player to some more lightsaber-oriented battles.

LucasArts is saying that the main narrative drive of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II will be built around Starkiller's efforts to reunite with his long lost live, Juno Eclipse, while also hunting down clues about his past, which he does not seem to remember.

At the same time, Darth Vader, probably still a bit on the edge after the events of the first iteration in the series, is manipulating a series of clones of Starkiller in order to create a better Sith warrior that can help him in his quest to dominate the galaxy. Expect to see a lot of twists as the story needs to navigate the somewhat murky space between the two main Star Wars movie series. It seems not even the main character knows whether he is a clone or the original brought back from the dead, which will surely provide one of the main twists.

LucasArts is also saying that The Force Unleashed II will be introducing dual wielding of lightsabers as a gameplay mechanic, allowing both the main character and his enemies to pull some new flashy moves, and some fresh Jedi powers, including the Mind Trick so well known from the first Star Wars movie.

LucasArts is also working on a new free-to-play MMO based on the Clone Wars universe with Sony, while BioWare and Electronic Arts are creating the Old Republic, another MMO based on the franchise.
