Crowdfunding is one of the solutions he is exploring

Video game developer Cliff Bleszinski, who has been traditionally associated with the Gears of War series, says that he should be able to offer more information on the video game project he is working on in the coming weeks.

At the moment, the game creator is busy trying to make sure that he has all the resources he needs to actually start working on his title, a situation that should be solved in about four or six weeks.

It seems that Cliff Bleszinski wants to get money from his fans via a crowdfunding platform, but he will also use investor money in order to make sure that he can proceed regardless of long-term support from the community.

He is quoted by Gamespot as saying that, “I would like to go directly to the consumer if possible, although with the safety net of providing outside financing. I think Kickstarter is a beautiful, romantic thing. I think that for every success story there’s ten failures, sadly, on Kickstarter.”

Cliff Bleszinski is also interested in using the wisdom of the crowds during the actual game development process, because he believes that customers should have control over the experience they will play.

He adds, “I think it’s possible with the success of DayZ, to have the concept of pay-for-alpha or pay-for-early-access, and help the community forge and shape your game. Build the company while you build the game while you build the community, at the same time.”

Only very limited details are available about the new game that Cliff Bleszinski is working on, including hints that it might be an area shooter with a focus on competitive play.

The developer became famous working on Gears of War, which has been recently acquired by Microsoft from Epic Games, and the creator says that he has no plans to be involved with it in the future.
