"Get directions" gets hot features

The famous web-based solution Google Maps is now even more efficient than before because the "Get directions" feature receives several updates able to improve the functionality of the product. Basically, you're now able to click and drag a special icon introduced by Google in order to adjust your route and find additional roads to reach your destination. Moreover, you can choose a certain location, right click on it and select the first option "Directions from here". Then, go to your destination and select "Directions to here".

This new function is useful especially for the ones looking for traffic information because you can select alternative routes with ease in order to avoid heavy traffic. Ryan Sturgell and Barry Brumitt, Software Engineers, Google Maps, said that this is one of the long-awaited updates for the web-based service as the arrow navigation was extremely difficult for most of us.

"Can you imagine going back to clicking arrows and waiting for the screen to refresh just to move the map left/right/up/down? It'd be as big a bummer as going back to 8-track tapes. Today, we're taking another big step forward with driving directions in Google Maps: now you can click & drag to change destinations along your route. Once you've used click & drag for creating and modifying routes, we think you'll find that you simply can't fathom how you managed without it. I mean, where are your 8-tracks?" they said.

Google Maps is the same Google product that created several problems for the parent company as the Street View function made the users raise privacy concerns. As you probably know, this new function shows detailed pictures straight from the level of the street, allowing the users to navigate around using 360 degrees panoramas. Because some of the US residents were caught in pictures, some of them said that it's extremely dangerous as the web-based service might show private information from their houses.
