The past week has seen the arrival of what is probably a plethora of new mobile computers, particularly gaming notebooks whose promotional photos involve a certain action hero, and it looks like Clevo has now made a similar move.

The market for gaming systems may not be as big as that of mainstream PCs, but it definitely is not a small one either.

Then again, most mainstream notebooks, with their standard 4 GB of DDR3 and competent CPUs, can more or less handle any game as well, provided a discrete graphics card is present.

Gaming laptops, however, are a different breed because they have both high-end graphics and matching aesthetics.

Among others, Dell, Origin and Maingear have all either released a new gaming laptop or updated an existing one.

Now, AVADirect has joined in on the fun, having listed the Clevo P170HM-3DE, a high-tier, 3D-enabled machine.

Measuring 17.3 inches in diagonal, the notebook runs on a second generation Intel Core i7 central processing unit.

More specifically, users can choose between several quad-core units, nothing weaker than that, with the strongest being the Core i7-2920XM Extreme edition.

Additionally, the GeForce GTX 485M 2GB GDDR5 Mobile Graphics Card is present, along with up to 16 GB of memory and one or two storage units, be they hard disk drives or solid state drives.

Meanwhile, a Super Multi DVD±RW Burner handles optical storage and disk-held multimedia, while a 9-in-1 card reader can interface with memory cards from photo cameras and the like.

Finally, besides Gigabit Ethernet, the gaming notebook boasts 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth, plus extras, like a fingerprint reader and the obligatory webcam.

As for 3D support, the 16:9 LED-backlit Full HD panel (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution) benefits from the bundled NVIDIA 3D Vision kit. Orders can be placed here, in exchange for $2,322 or more.
