14 DAY TRIAL // She’s almost 40 years old, but there is nothing about Claudia Schiffer that might even hint at growing old, and especially not her latest photospread for Tank magazine. Featured on the cover in nothing but a pair of jeans that go all the way down, the model proves she is now hotter than ever in a series of photos bound to show true beauty never goes away – it only changes with time.
Some of the photos in the spread remind of pics Claudia appeared in while she was still a rising model, while others are more sophisticated and utterly classic, showing the model covered in thin veils or decked in designer items. What they all have in common, though, is a woman who, at 39, is not afraid to go makeup-free for a photoshoot and who continues to look just as great as she did when she was younger by simply leading a healthy lifestyle.
In a recent interview with Times Online, Schiffer admitted that she rarely worked out when she was in her 20s, mostly because she always had a very quick metabolism that allowed her to eat close to anything her heart desired. Now too she doesn’t make a habit of going to the gym, although she admits she takes Pilates classes every now and then to improve her posture and flexibility. She does, however, pay close attention to what she eats and knows that one gets the body one deserves – meaning, you can’t overindulge and then expect to be healthy and good looking.
“In my twenties, I had no idea. I never set foot in the gym and I ate whatever was available at the moment I was hungry. Today I eat only organic food and try to exercise three times a week. I go power walking and I do Pilates, which has made my body more toned and elongated my muscles. I also actually lost a lot of weight after I gave birth. Sometimes your metabolism speeds up a lot, so I am thinner today than I ever was, which is great because now I can eat more food.” Claudia Schiffer explains for the Times.
Since she clearly still has the body for it, the model also reveals in the same interview she’s not ready yet to say goodbye to the fashion world, despite her impressive 21-year modeling career. “I will continue as long as people still want me. And although I assume I won’t be able to carry on modeling indefinitely, I will always be involved in the fashion world. If that is not in front of the camera, I will be nurturing talent or collaborating with designers.” she says for the same publication.
